America: Compost will be made from the dead bodies of humans in New York, the government has approved
Instead of cremation or burial in the state, dead bodies will now be converted into compost. Because it is better for the environment.
In this process called 'Natural Organic Reduction', the dead body is kept sealed in a container. and is allowed to rot for a few weeks. In this process, the carcass is digested with alfalfa, wood bark, and hay mixed with microbes. After one month, the infection is removed by the heating process and given to the family in the form of manure.
New York's Democratic Governor Cathy Hochul implemented it on Saturday.
New York is the sixth US state to do so
According to the BBC, New York is the sixth state to implement it. Five other US states, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Vermont, and California, are also composting dead bodies. It was first implemented in Washington.
