Eligibility Criteria for CBI Sub-Inspector
To become a CBI officer through the SSC CGL exam, you need to fulfill the following qualifications.
Educational Qualifications:
To become a CBI officer, candidates must have passed graduation with 55% marks, and also the candidate must have cleared the CGL SSC exam.
Age Range:
The age limit to apply for Sub-Inspector in the Central Bureau of Investigation is 20-30 years. Earlier, the upper age limit for general category candidates applying for the post of SI in CBI was 27. But now it has been revised to 30 years. In the OBC category, Upper Inspector 33 and in SC/ST category the upper age limit to join CBI is 35 years.

The pay scale of a Sub Inspector in CBI is Rs 9300-34,800 per month. And CBI Inspector is in the grade pay of Rs.4200. And the total salary in hand is Rs 44000.
Exam Pattern of Sub Inspector in CBI
To become a Sub Inspector in the Central Bureau of Investigation, you need to clear the SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination. There are four stages in the Combined Graduate Level Examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission. After successful completion of all 4 stages, you can join CBI as Sub Inspector.

The examination fee for general category male candidates is INR 100. And there is no fee for women and SC/ST category. The date of the exam is notified in the SSC exam calendar.
Selection Process of Sub Inspector in CBI
The recruitment of a Sub Inspector is done through the Combined Graduate Level Examination of SSC, which is followed by a Medical Examination and Personal Interview.
Tier-I: Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type)
Tier-I will be of a 1-hour duration with 200 total marks. The total number of questions will be 100. Included in this section.
Tier-2: Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type)
Tier II consists of 2 papers of a total of 400 marks, each of 2 hours duration. The first paper carrying 200 marks consists of 100 questions from Quantitative Abilities. Paper II consists of questions on English Language and Comprehension.
Physical Standard Required for Sub Inspector in CBI
For Male Candidates:
- Height: 165 cm
- Height Relaxable for Hillsmen and Tribals: 5 cm
- Chest: 76 cm with expansion
- Weight: Proportionate to height and age and as per specified medical standards in weight.

- Eye-sight (with or without glasses)
- Distant vision: 6/6 in one and 6/9 in the other
- Near vision 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in the other eye
For Female Candidates:
- Height: 150 cm
- Weight: Proportionate to height and age and as per specified medical standards
